Back in 1994 I set up my first website.

I secured an account with the cheapest ISP I could find here in NYC; I had one of those urls with a tilde in it,  www.inch.com/~robeber or some such.

I went to Barnes and Noble, bought the biggest, heaviest HTML reference book I could find and got to work.

A few days later my masterpiece was complete:

• Grey background... 
• A link to AltaVista... 
• <TABLE> tag with a few cells, thick border, purple blinking text... 
• GIF of a medieval woodcut of a bear sniffing its own poop...

Fifteen years later, I have decided to continue that foundational work with this new site. The tools have changed a little, but the vision remains the same ;)

UPDATE: I have located the original image of the poop-smelling bear!
